Rex's MatChat......UPDATED 5/1/98 In an emotional display from the ring, LaFollette's Johnny 'The Working Man' Raynor laid aside rumors of his retirement from the ring following a cowardly attack from behind by The Bounty Hunter. Raynor had just finished a grueling no holds barred match with Precious Paul Ray which had left both men bloodied and battered. Bounty Hunter interjected himself into the final moments of the match by throwing flames into Raynor's chest which left him unable to continue the fight. As Raynor struggled to let fans know just where he stood, Ray and Bounty Hunter hit the high road unwilling to accept Raynor's challenge for a chain match on the spot. Bounty Hunter attacked Raynor from behind whipping him across the back with a large belt and then kicking the fan favorite repeatedly. A near capacity crowd was on hand at the West LaFollette School to see TMW action helping the school to raise funds for a much needed playground. In earlier action, Don Lucas, with the help of the always vocal Mike Powers scored a victory over the wildly popular Crazy Bobby B. The hard nosed, hard fighting Lucas used an assortment of cheap shots to earn the undeserved win while Powers kept referee Roger Paris distracted. Big Jess and Chaos were involved in what amounted to just a little bit above a street brawl with each landing hard punches, kicks, and elbows to assorted body parts of his opponent. The gentle titan Chaos pinned Landell to a chorus of cheers from the die hard Campbell County fans. In a match that featured even more outside help from 'managers', Tennessee Boss Man defeated Master Mayhem. Boss Man used chains, low blows, and help from Mr. Maxwell to win the match and continued to pound on the man of mystery long after the match had ended. Mayhem was swarmed as usual as he left the gym by a large group of children who were rewarded with hugs from the warrior. Chains, ropes, illegal tags, distractions, what else could be mentioned? What else could Jeff 'Wildman' Anderson and Chris Powers thrown at Jimmy Golden and The Dirty White Boy? Who knows. None of it worked in LaFollette as a flying body press sent Anderson to the canvas for the three count and another win for the good guys. An impromptu six man tag team match carried an unusual stipulation in that Medic Madness was forced to defend their belts under such dire circumstances. Crazy Bobby B was drafted in a rush to join Madness as they defended against the trio of Ruff Cut and Tom Pitner. Action in this match spilled over the ropes and into the safety zone and left fans wondering who would be clobbered next and would it possibly happen in their laps. While a war raged outside the ring, Medic Madness executed the pinfall inside keeping their title intact. In what could make for some interesting talk and rumors in the next few weeks, Mike Powers and manager Don Lucas had several (not friendly) words with each other. Powers who has pledged his hair in a May 16th match in Knoxville, promised Lucas a whipping if he does lose his hair. TMW fans would probably pay extra just to see that.
